New geo hiking trail in Unkel: geology and culture in harmony!

Unkel recently set up a new cultural and geo loop that pursues the goal of presenting the geological peculiarities of the region along hiking trails. This was presented on April 6, 2025 under the direction of Oliver Bremm, the managing director of Tourism Siebengebirge GmbH. District Administrator Achim Hallerbach, who is also the deputy chairman of the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park, also took part in the presentation.

A central component of the loop is the informative design of the hiking trails. This includes information steles that highlight significant geological features and their effects on the region. Such a stele, which is located at Haanhof in Bruchhausen, is particularly noteworthy. These steles are geared to offer hikers important information about the geological structure of the area.
