The largest dinosaur exhibition in Europe opened its doors in Lüdenscheid on Friday. The Dino XXL-Expo takes place on the square of the historic shooting range and will take visitors into a fascinating world of prehistoric times by May 25, 2025. The organizers, the Alcaraz family in cooperation with paleontologists, have worked on preparing this impressive event for more than six years.
Visitors get into the exhibition through the opened mouth of a dinosaurs, which not only presented dinosaurs, but also other beings from the primal, stone and ice age. The life -size models of dinosaurs are presented to the public for the first time and make these Expo a unique experience.
an unforgettable experience despite the rain
On Thursday before the opening, heavy rain ensured that the site was partially affected. Without further ado, the organizers had to repair paths on Friday morning to give the first visitors undisturbed access. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the first guests, like the Keller family from Neuwied, were enthusiastic about the exhibition.
The opening times of the Dino XXL-Expo are Wednesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday to Sunday and on public holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday are the day of rest. This variety of experiences attracts numerous families and dinosaur fans who look forward to an exciting journey into the past.

The Dino XXL-Expo in Lüdenscheid is only the starting point for a Germany-wide dinoshow. The success of this exhibition could be a forerunner for similar events in other cities. Similarly, a Dino Expo XXL will take place in Valencia from September 11th to October 17th. This open-air exhibition extends over 5,000 m² and includes more than 100 life-size animatronic dinosaurs.
The thematic tour in Valencia leads through the various age of evolution and lasts about 1.5 hours. Strict COVID-19 security measures also apply here to guarantee visitors a safe experience. Tickets are available for 7 € for children and € 9 for adults at the cash register and online.
There are also other important exhibitions, such as those in the LWL Museum for Natural History. This offers a variety of exhibits, including reconstructed models of small predatory dinosaurs with a feather dress, swimming acid skeletons and many interactive elements that deepen the understanding of the development and life of the dinosaurs.
