memory of the consequences of National Socialism
The day of commemoration of the victims of National Socialism serves to remember the persecution and murder of around six million Jews and other groups such as Sinti*Zze and Rome*Nja, the victims of the systematic genocide. The National Socialist ideology sought after the dominance of white Aryans and justified their atrocities pseudo -scientific.
People with disabilities and illnesses were also the aim of compulsory sterilizations and "euthanasia" murders. The persecution based on sexual orientation and other identity features was also part of this dark story. The ideology of the National Socialist led to humiliation, abuse, abuse and murder of people who did not belong to the Völkische "we", which led to extensive dehumanization.
The victims of National Socialism warn the global community that the ideology of dehumanization must never rule again. In teachings from the Holocaust, human rights were anchored in international law, as the general statement of human rights and various international contracts, which emphasize the dignity and rights of each individual. Julia Duchrow, General Secretary of Amnesty International in Germany, emphasizes how important it is to actively live and defend human rights, and warn of the division of society in "We against the others" and the associated devaluation of people.
