Neuwied: New location for the Schöppche - a ray of hope for the homeless!

The Schöppche, a central day care center for the homeless in Neuwied, has moved into a new location after the old facility has been torn down. This decision was necessary to continue to do justice to the needs of the clients and to offer them a place of getting together, warmth and exchange. This reports Rhein-zeitung.de .

The new facility is only a few hundred meters from the previous location. The day care center is operated by Caritas and offers people who often live on the edge of society, a retreat and the possibility of social interaction. Despite some organizational challenges, the new alternative solution is described as more than just a temporary replacement.

a place of encounter

In the new day care center, visitors sit in a bright room at tables, where they eat pasta casserole together and drink coffee together. The ambience is reminiscent of a simple but cozy canteen that gives people a feeling of community and security. This atmosphere is of great value for many of the visitors, since they often live in isolation and longing for contacts and conversations.

The day care center is part of a more comprehensive support system for people in the Neuwied region. In addition to the Schöppche, Caritas also offers other important programs such as MAP (mobile advice to people in public places) that do outstanding social work. The map aims to reduce inhibition thresholds and to improve access to basic supply facilities.

comprehensive support

The participants of the MAP, many of them live from unemployment benefit II, receive help with the resumption of broken contacts with relatives and support in agencies matters. You will also be taught in other advice. This diverse support is largely financed by the job center for the Neuwied district, while the city and the Neuwied district also participate in order to promote the social integration of those seeking help.

In addition, people in emergency accommodation receive residential help that aims to sustainably improve the living situation of those affected. These supportive measures are important for those who are threatened by homelessness and have to counteract social exclusion. The advantages of these programs are broad and include the promotion of social participation and support in conflicts in existing living conditions.

The day care center "Schöppche" remains an essential contact point for people in need. It not only offers practical help, but also information about claims against work and social administration. In addition, it provides clients to further advisory services, which creates a comprehensive support network. This is also emphasized by the Caritas Neuwied
