Neuwied is planning new technology park: hope and visions for the city!

Federal Minister of construction Klara Geywitz has visited the former rasselstein site in Neuwied to find out about the planned redesign of the area. The aluminum group Asas wants to build a modern technology park for robotics there. In addition to this innovative project, around 1,700 new residential units are to be built, which is part of a comprehensive vision for the city. Geywitz emphasized the importance of the site for the future development of Neuwied and referred to the diverse possibilities that this location offers.

The project is characterized as one of the most important urban development projects in recent decades. It has already found its way into urban bodies and local reporting several times. The planned elements not only include the technology park, but also residential buildings, a green mile and commercial facilities. The city administration has set itself the task of clarifying the concerns, concerns and uncertainties of the citizens and involving the planning process.

public participation and information event

In order to offer the citizens the opportunity to participate, a public on-site appointment for October 30 at 7:00 p.m. is scheduled for Rasselsteiner Straße 101, 56564 Neuwied. Responsible to Asas will present the development concept and then answer questions from those present. For better predictability, citizens are asked to register by email or telephone.

The planning for the rasselstein site is part of a wider strategy to make digitization and urban development in Neuwied sustainable. The Federal Ministry of Living, Urban Development and Building supports these initiatives with various programs that are summarized under the roof of "Smart Cities". These aim to help municipalities make digital transformations in common good.

A total of around 820 million euros have been available to the federal government since 2019 to promote model projects in smart cities. In addition to financial support, an international exchange of best practices is also sought, for example via the International Smart Cities Network (ISCN), which includes several countries.

The development of the rasselstein site will therefore not only have local effects, but could also serve as a model for similar projects in other cities. The citizens of Neuwied are invited to make an active contribution and to participate in the design of their city.
