Oldtimer meeting in Neuwied: visitor record and new food rally!

On May 6, 2025, the annual classic car meeting took place in Neuwied on May Day, which recorded the highest number of visitors in the history of the event this year. The incredible enthusiasm for classic vehicles, be it cars, trucks or motorcycles, is reflected in passion, which Ralf Alfred Schaefer, second chairman of IG Young and classic cars, is capturing with his words. He talked about why driving and maintaining classic cars play such a big role for many Germans. According to the Rhein-Zeitung not only brings the classic car meeting together, but also shows the cultural importance of these vehicles.

Another highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the comeback of the food rally through the dyke town, an event that was well received last year. The food rally refers to a gastronomic concept that focuses not only to vehicles but also culinary experiences. The tenth edition of this rally, which took place in 2024, was particularly mentioned, and it was celebrated that participants like the team of engine marketing with co-pilot Nadin Jung and Michael Peschel in the Audi 100 Coupé S were able to achieve remarkable success. This rally started in the Food Hotel Neuwied and led over a 180 km route, in which the Lahn was crossed six times, as the German Motor Cult reported.

The fascination of classic car rally

The IG Young-Oldtimer-Neuwied has set itself the task of promoting classic car rally and attracts both experienced and young classic car pilots. At the Rally 2024, the starting point in Bendorf, where the participants were equipped with a roadbook, was created by Peter Rodenberg, the road captain. The event included several rating tasks that the teams had to solve while driving. These tasks, such as finding certain images from the book and stamp controls, demanded both skill and teamwork from the participants.

A special highlight was the lunch break in Lahnstein, where the participants of Rhein-Lahn-Nixe Lea 2023/2024 were received. The end of the event was celebrated with a solemn evening and the cup ceremony at a buffet in the open air. This was a great framework for benzing talks and the exchange among the participants.

event calendar 2025 and more

The fascination for classic cars is not limited to Neuwied. The published GMK-AutoSport-event calendar 2025 includes numerous classic car rally as well as events for sports cars and youngtimers. This program also offers nostalgic classic car tours and dynamic trips for younger models. Michael Peschel moderates the reports and event videos and thus provides a comprehensive insight into the world of classic automobiles.

The presence in social networks with over 11,000 fans and the opportunity for organizers to report on their events show the commitment of German Motor Cult for this living automotive culture. Against the background of the increasing popularity of classic cars, events in which German Motor Cult actively participates will continue to focus on promoting enthusiasm for classic cars and motorsport.
