Bundestag coordinates the AfD ban-Glöckner is optimistic!
On Monday, January 27th, the Bundestag will vote on an application to ban the AfD. Angelika Glöckner, MP for constituency 209, including Zweibrücken and the Southwest Palatinate district, has expressed their support for this application. Originally skeptical of the idea, her opinion has now changed. Glöckner sees the increase in extremist tendencies within the AfD as worrying and points out that the term "remigration" is now anchored in the party's election program.
The SPD MPs, which also include Glöckner, could be crucial for the success or failure of the application. It has observed a dynamic development within the SPD and is optimistic that the prohibition application could find a majority in parliament. The classification of the AfD is particularly serious by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a right -wing extremist suspicion, while some of its national associations such as Saxony and Thuringia are already considered to be secured right -wing extremists, such as Federal Center for Political Education . It is estimated that around 30% of the AfD members are to be assigned to extremist attitudes, which corresponds to about 11,300 people.
The moderate warehouse within the AfD has lost influence through internal power struggles. The right -wing wing of the party in particular has won power in the East German federal states. Since the party congress in 2022, the party no longer has representatives who position themselves against right -wing extremism. As early as 2019, the AfD was classified by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution as a "testing case" and since then was confronted with a right -wing extremist suspicion treatment. Complaints from the party against this classification were rejected in 2022 and 2024.
social implications and extremism
The AfD propagates an ethnic-biological understanding of the people that contradict the Basic Law. Their leaders often express themselves pejorative about people with a migration background and demand monitoring mosques and a reduction in social benefits for migrants. This goes hand in hand with a strongly pronounced enemy image of Islam and anti -Islam -anti -Islam discourses in their politics. The use of right -wing extremities such as "reversing" and "large population exchange" presents democracy with serious challenges.
Proponents of the ban application argue that the AfD endangers the democratic basic order. Critics, on the other hand, fear that a ban could even give the party an additional boost. The discussion about dealing with the AfD remains complex and represents a central challenge for society, as well as the Federal Center for Political Education
