Artistic colors and memories: Elementary school Waldseer Hof shines new!

On May 11, 2025, the Waldseer primary school experienced a special art campaign that transformed the school yard into a colorful paradise. Under the direction of the master painter Simone Kallien-Schönhöfer, the children with great enthusiasm redesigned the previously gray farm. Inspired by the work of the famous Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the walls and columns were given bright colors. This measure marks its first renovation in 40 years and is an impressive example of how art can change a space and its atmosphere.

Hundertwasser as a source of inspiration

Friedensreich Hundertwasser is known for its unconventional architectures and the integration of nature into architecture. His philosophy, which includes "window law" and "tree duty", stimulates thinking about the environment. In a framework for the art project, his way of life and its importance for art history was discussed. The art gallery of the Red Hahn describes Hundertwasser as a creative free spirit, the work of which emphasizes the conscious life and the connection with nature.

In the course of the art campaign, the children created large cardboard boxes in the hundred water style, which were painted with gouache colors. Each child received a window for coloring, which was later designed with a personal picture and their date of birth. These windows are integrated to part of the school yard and symbolize the individuality of each child.

The project not only promotes creativity, but also strengthens the community spirit among the students. The windows were placed and embellished on larger white photo cards. In order to complete the artistic expression, onion towers made of gold foil were added as special lucky charms. These golden towers are not only a visual highlight, they also represent the hope and wishes of the children.

The art campaign at the Waldseer primary school goes beyond the mere embellishment of the school yard.
