Hiking marathon in Donnersbergkreis: an adventure for young and old!

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, an impressive hiking marathon will take place in the Donnersberg district. The Donnersberg Touristics Association (DTV), together with the local community of Steinbach, the PWV local groups and the Obsthof Enders, organized a varied event that is supposed to address both experienced hiking athletes and new loosening. The event starts at the community center in Steinbach am Donnersberg and leads through breathtaking landscapes around the Donnersberg.

The marathon route extends over 42 kilometers and challenges the participants with around 1200 meters of altitude. On the way, the hikers will get through various picturesque places, including Imsbach, the Falkensteiner Tal, the Degenbach Valley and Falkenstein and finally the Donnersberg itself. In addition to the demanding marathon route, shorter distances are also offered: a half marathon variant of approx. 20 km and a 30-kilometer route.

start times and registration

The start times are clearly defined: The participants of the marathon and the 30-kilometer route have the opportunity to start between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., while the half marathon runners can break up between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. The goal of all runners is the PWV hut, which is located near the Celtendorf.

The following applies to registration: Registrations begin on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. Interested parties can register at www.donnersberg-touristik.de/erlebissen-Buchen . It is important to note that day registrations are not possible and the number of participants is limited. The starting fee is seven euros, with children up to 14 years of being able to participate free of charge.

In addition to the sporting challenges, the participants can expect a final party at the community center from 3 p.m., for the allocation of documents and culinary delights from the ROK City Food Department. This combination of sporty competition and social gathering nourishes the anticipation to the hiking marathon
