On April 3, 2025, the customers of the German fiber optics in Bornich and Weisel experienced a serious internet failure for a week. The reason for the disorder was the shutdown of the electricity on the main distributor, which was due to an unpaid electricity bill on the part of the German fiber optic. Until April 30 of a year, incidents must be sent to the Federal Network Agency for the previous year. Two procedures for data acquisition are available here: a web form in the energy data portal and an XML web service for electricity and gas. Access to this portal requires a company number and a control number.

The general regulation for reporting, defined in the general orders on electricity and gas, ensures that such incidents are managed transparently and comprehensibly. This is particularly important in cases of pension interruptions such as that in Bornich and Weisel in order to maintain trust in the infrastructure and to prevent future cases.
