New classrooms for Diezer Pestalozzi School: Pavilion under construction!

A new pavilion is currently being built on the schoolyard of the Pestalozzi school. This pavilion, which is put into position with a heavy crane, is said to house three classrooms and a cafeteria with a kitchen. This measure serves as an interim solution until the planned new building of the school, which is to be realized on Schläferweg in about seven years. The extension work at the Pestalozzi School has already started this week, such as the Rhein-Zeitung reported.

The new building is necessary to cover the increasing space requirement and create a modern learning environment. The school plays a central role in the community of Diez and is therefore planned with a clear focus on future -oriented educational areas.

temporary solutions at other locations

In Weiden, a need for additional space was also found. The Pestalozzi school there receives a temporary container school system, which is provided by the city administration. This is done with regard to the fact that eight school classes have to return from the Weiherhammer primary and middle school. The container school system was completed on time for the first day of school. The construction and planning committee originally favored the construction of a temporary container system for around 2.7 million euros, but finally decided to buy a used container school, which previously served as an alternative accommodation for the vocational school in Wiesau.

On December 4, 2019, the decision of the construction and planning committee was made to issue 100,000 euros for the purchase of the container school. The quickly implemented conversion and repair measures were implemented within 10 weeks, whereby the premises were brought to the technical status of the current requirements. In addition, the classrooms are provided with new electronic plates until the autumn holidays.

sustainability in school construction

The container school system in Weiden is provided with barrier -free access that contains ramps and a temporary car park for outdoor teachers. The total costs for the renovation and repair amount to around 850,000 euros and are therefore significantly cheaper than a new building. This solution not only promotes the rapid provision of classrooms, but also contributes to sustainability in construction, since the containers are reused.
