Dance and exchange: Participation in the exciting improvisation evening in Heidelberg!

on February 15, 2025 at 8 p.m., the underground theater invites you to a special evening in the lever hall: the Particle Evening at the dancers of the Ensemble underground theater, the renowned dance group Heidelberg and dance enthusiasts together on stage. Admission is free to experience different dance styles and interpretations.

The theme of this year's dance biennale is "United by Dance". This initiative wants to strengthen the community through dance and promote the exchange between the different dance cultures. The Heidelberg dance group, which was founded about 40 years ago for sports students at the University of Heidelberg, has developed since then. Today it is directed by five members who also work in (movement) therapeutic professions.

creative improvisation and exchange

The improvisation on this evening is particularly exciting because the members of the dance group bring their professional knowledge and dance experience. They ask important questions about the importance of dance and contact improvisation. This participative performance will be shaped by the exchange of movements and ideas and ends with encounters and conversations in the hall and foyer.

In addition to Participation Evening, the choreographic center offers two more events: on February 18, 2025 at 7 p.m. href = "https://www.mrn-news.de/202/08/heidelberg-zum-nachlang-der-tanzbiennale-showing-im-und-t-part-im-Unterwegstheater-567832/" Class = "Source_1"> Project Kitten's by choreographer Angelo Petracca. This show addresses the interplay of cute and technology as well as the uncanny Valley effect and examines how overly controlled movements and grotesque ambiguity fragment the relationships between performers and audiences.

Another performance will take place on February 21, 2025 at 8 p.m. with the Heidelberg dance group in the choreographic center. Both events are free of charge and should address a wide audience.

an artistic commentary on social topics

On February 4, an impressive performance under the title "Black Lights" was presented, which focuses on the daily attacks and violence that women experience. This staging under the direction of choreographer Mathilde Monnier brings eight artists on stage, who combine their anger and fire in a polyphonic choir by rhythm and dance. After the performance there was an artist conversation that stimulated thinking and discussion.

is also important, the context of the tanza provisation, which is illuminated by the book by Friedericke Lampert. Her work focuses on the development of the tan provisation and offers a differentiated basis for artists, theorists and curious readers. The book represents a systematic and clearly structured representation that also appeals to a non-dance science audience and to deal with the dance-historical currents and body concepts invited.

Overall, the upcoming events in Heidelberg not only offer a platform for creative forms of expression, but also encourage the discussion about important social issues and promote the exchange among the participants.
