Benefit Christmas concert: Music for a good cause in Landau!

On December 26, 2024, the fifth benefit Christmas concert of the brass quintet LJO-Brass took place in the College of Landau. The ensemble, founded in 2007 from former solo brass players from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Youth Orchestra, offered a varied program that presented both original works and its own arrangements.

Andreas Becker was responsible for the musical direction, who has been the 1st Solohornist of the German State Philharmonic Rhineland-Palatinate since 2018. He was supported by the coat of abbey Anna Linß, who played on the Rieger organ. The concert included works from different epochs, from the baroque music of Johann Sebastian Bach to jazzy sounds.

The program included pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Hidas Frigyes, Viktor Ewald, John Cheetham and Jan Koetsier. The highlights included Anton Bruckner's "Locus ISTE" and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdys 4. Organ Sonate, 1st set. Jared Scott, Hornist at Ljo-Brass, impressed the audience with his singing of "New York, New York", while Andreas Becker accompanied him with "Koppangen". The concert ended with the singing of "Silent Night, Holy Night" and encores such as "Sleigh Ride" and "Puttin on the Ritz" rounded off the event.

The proceeds of the concert are donated to four institutions: the federal government, the association "A Hospice for Landau and the Southern Wine Route", the church music in the collegiate church and the Kinderschutzbund Landau-Südliche Weinstraße. The donation handover is planned for January 14, 2025, as Pfalz-express.de reported.

The support for the concert also came from VR Bank Südpfalz, a loyal partner of the event. The ticket prices were reduced at 23 euros for the full price and 13 euros, with various discounts for students, students and people with disabilities. Advance sales offices included VR Bank Südpfalz and the office for tourism in Landau.

The next appearances by LJO brass are already being planned. Another concert will take place in the collegiate church in December 2024, such as Treffpunkt-pfalz.de
