Powerful prayer: women strengthen their faith in Landau!

On April 30, 2025, the Catholic Women's Community of Germany (KFD), Diocesan Association Speyer, announces its upcoming event "Women's Board: evening services from women for women - and beyond". The initiatives of this kind are part of a continuous commitment to give women a voice within the church and to strengthen the community.

The first services in this series are to take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Marienkirche in Landau. The topic of the service is entitled "Maihochzeit" and is headed by Katrin Ziebarth-Hofmann. This event is open to all interested women and not only for members of the kfd. The goal is to exchange experiences in a creative and lively form about life experiences, experience together and to strengthen faith.

dates and topics of the women's bond 2025

The KFD has already announced further dates for the women's bond. These are:

  • 08. June
  • 13. July
  • 10. August
  • 14. September
  • 12. October
  • 09. November

Each of these services should give women the opportunity to talk about their topics and concerns and to grow together in faith. The invitation is also expressly intended for women without membership in the KFD.

at a time when the Catholic Church speaks of basic reforms, the voices for a stronger say of women are getting louder. On April 29, five Catholic organizations, including the KFD, celebrated the "Diaconin Day" and demanded more gender justice within the church. At a protest rally in front of the Cologne Cathedral, the Federal President of the KFD, Mechthild Heil, demanded the consecration of women to deacon. reports .

The demonstration, which was supported by around 150 people, criticized the existing "systemic power traMetry" between men and women in the church. Ute Zeilmann from the Catholic German Frauenbund (KDFB) brought up the problems of marginalization of young women in the church. Although women are not allowed to be consecrated to priests, the demand for opening the offices is getting louder. Bishops, theologians and theologians have also spoken out for a reformed view of the consecration offices.

The ongoing debates about the diaconate and the role of women in the church show that there is an urgent need to achieve clarification and equality. While Pope Francis supports reforms, he also emphasizes the need to respect the existing structures. The dialogue about the consecration offices is by no means complete, and initiatives such as the women's bodies contribute to sharpening awareness of these topics and offering women a platform.
