This defeat made it impossible for Ehingen to secure the relegation, which in addition to the sporting disappointment also had the emotions boiled up in the team.

games and player performance

The game against Speyer developed difficult for the Ehingen team from the start. The team quickly fell behind with 26:42, but was able to catch up to 36:44 at half time.

injury -related challenges

In addition to the already difficult framework, the team had to do without its top scorer Jaylen Alston. The 193 cm tall player, who scored an average of 26.3 points this season and also contributed 10.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, suffered from stomach problems. Alston, whose presence in such a critical game might have made a difference, lack the team at a crucial moment.

The situation for Ehingen is tense. Hricko appeals to his players, more relaxed in the offensive game and more aggressive on the defensive to avoid future performance losses. The tournament structure of the game illustrates the importance of assists and defensive rebounds, as was found in previous studies on the performance analysis of basketball games. In the regular season, more successful teams showed significant advantages in these categories, which should also be taken into account for future training in order to further develop tactics and strategy.

The view of a return to the league remains uncertain because the team now has to copy the relegation. For the players and the entire environment of Ehingen, it is a painful lesson in this professional competition.

The challenge of recognizing and eliminating a greatest deficits will be one of the central tasks in the upcoming off-season for the team. The next season will be decisive and Team Ehingen Ursprung must ensure that every defeat is used as a learning process and incentive to grow.
