On Wednesday afternoon, January 9, 2025, there were several traffic accidents in the South Palatinate due to snow rain. The smooth streets led to a worrying increase in incidents in Landau and in the Southern Wine Route district. According to Rheinpfalz reported, where luckily only sheet damage and one person was slightly injured.

The first incident occurred at 4:45 p.m. on the A65, in the direction of Ludwigshafen, when a 54-year-old came off the road and crashed into the middle of the course. Shortly afterwards there was another accident at the driveway to the B10 near Godramstein. A 26-year-old driver slipped into the standing car of a 55-year-old with his vehicle who had stopped at a stop sign. These two accidents remained without injuries.

A serious accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on the district road between Venningen and Altdorf. A 35-year-old driver from the Speyer area lost control of her vehicle and collided with the car of a 50-year-old. She suffered a laceration and complained of chest pain, which is why she had to be taken to the hospital. Another misfortune followed at 7 p.m. on the A65 when a 36-year-old between the Edenkoben and Neustadt-Süd junctions lost control of their vehicle and collided with the car of a 55-year-old. Overall, the property damage was estimated at around 80,000 euros.

The weather -related accidents are not limited to the southern Palatinate. Nationwide also reported Tagesschau increased incidents due to smoothness. In Lower Saxony and other federal states there were hundreds of traffic accidents, including about 110 within eight hours in the area of ​​the Braunschweig police. Around 80 smoothly accidents were registered in Bremen in the shortest possible time.

The German Weather Service (DWD) warned for the coming days of further smooth roads and an increased risk of accidents. This warning is particularly planned for Saturday and Sunday, in which even more snow showers and possibly freezing rain are expected.
