A farewell and three new beginnings: chimney sweeps celebrate change in Landau

On February 5, 2025, a ceremony for appreciation of chimney sweepers took place in the district house of the southern Wine Route. In an atmosphere of thanks and recognition, District Administrator Dietmar Seefeldt and numerous attendees recognized the important role that chimney sweeps play for safety in the households. This tradition is kept up not only in the region, but also in the whole of Rhineland-Palatinate, where the chimney sweeps take on an essential task in monitoring technical security. They are the link to a safe and energy -efficient living.

As part of the event, three district chimney sweeps were adopted, which have been performing significant services in recent years. The chimney sweeps adopted are:

  • Thomas Cuntz from Oberotterbach (Southern Weinstrasse V)
  • Thomas Eichberger from Hauenstein (Southern Weinstrasse X)
  • Joachim Haber more from Edesheim (Southern Wine Route IX)

welcome, new district chimney sweep

The ceremony not only served to say goodbye, but also to the greeting of new district chimney sweeps, which started their service last year. These new specialists will continue the valuable work of their predecessors. The new initials include:

  • Isabell Göbel from Elmstein-iggelbach (sweeping district of southern Weinstraße X, since October 2024)
  • Andreas Jäger from Oberhausen (Southern Weinstraße V, since June 2024)
  • Sven Leidner (Southern Wine Route IX, Southern Wine, since October 1, 2024)

District Administrator Seefeldt emphasized that the chimney sweep activity not only guarantees compliance with legal provisions, but also contributes to the prevention of fires and to improve energy efficiency. The chimney sweeps employed in the region have not only a technical, but also a social responsibility because they build a relationship of trust with the citizens.

The chimney sweeps contribute significantly to the security in the households of the southern wine road and are therefore indispensable partners for both the citizens and for the municipalities. In Rhineland-Palatinate, a well-structured system ensures the order and the distribution of tasks among chimney sweeps, which guarantees a nationwide safety check of the heating systems. These regulations are described on the website of the Southern Weinstraße
