Adenauer commemoration: Ceremony combines politicians for the anniversary!

On January 6, 2025, Konrad Adenauer's 149th birthday was recognized with a special event. The traditional wreath laying took place in the Rhöndorf forest cemetery and was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Haus Foundation. The guests included members of the Adenauer family, including grandson Konrad Adenauer, and prominent representatives from politics and society.

In a moving ceremony, grandson Konrad Adenauer spoke a prayer at the grave of his grandfather.

The event was traditionally accompanied by the Rhöndorf shooters. Yasno Inadome, another guest, took off a bouquet at the grave and expressed his admiration for Konrad Adenauer. The traditional start of the year took place in the Grandhotel Petersberg, in which Norbert Lammert reminded of historical events, especially at Adenauer's negotiations with the Allies in 1949.

Konrad Adenauer plays a crucial role in German history. At the final meeting after the Basic Law was accepted, he described May 9, 1949 as the "first happy day since 1933". Later, however, he relativized his positive assessment of the Basic Law, in particular on the basis of the strong position of the Federal Council and the Federal Constitutional Court.
