Large construction site: B53 between Longen and Mehring tight for ten weeks!
The B53 between Schweich and Longen will be fully locked from April 9, 2025 for a period of about four weeks due to extensive renovation work. The measure affects a section of around 2.3 kilometers, which is used by around 5,600 vehicles every day, of which around 4% are heavy traffic. These work, which is to be completed on May 3, 2025, are necessary because the condition of the street no longer meets the requirements for federal roads. The renewal of the damaged asphalt ceiling and the road markings are planned. The full closure is required to protect the construction site staff and due to the low road width. The estimated renovation costs amount to around 430,000 euros and are financed by the federal government. The contractor is the Christoph Schnorpfeil GmbH & Co. KG from Trier, who takes care of the implementation of the work, as Sol.de. .
During the full closure, diversions are signposted. Road users from Schweich will be led to Föhren via the K39 to Schweich train station, further on the L141, and finally back to the B53 via the L48. For drivers who come from Klüsserath or Mehring, the detour leads via the K85 to the L150 to Fell, via the L145 to Longuich and then back to Schweich.
additional work and their effects
Another part of the renovation work affects the section between Longen and Mehring-Lörsch. Here the B53 is also locked for about ten weeks. In this area, additional measures such as the expansion of the existing asphalt layers, the consolidation of the underground and the application of new asphalt layers are carried out. In addition, a barrier -free expansion of the Lörsch bus stop is planned, including a crossing aid with left -turning track.
The total cost of this section amounts to around one million euros, also financed by the federal government. These construction work is divided into three sections to minimize the impairments for residents and road users:
duration | |
---|---|
1. Section: 200 meters from the entrance to Longen | approx. two weeks |
2. Section: from Longen to the Lörsch bus stop | approx. Four weeks |
3. Section: From the Lörsch bus stop to 200 meters behind Lörsch towards Mehring | approx. Four weeks |
The subsequent diversions include alternative routes via the L141 to Schweich and the L48 according to Bekond and the B53 towards Mehring. Due to the blocking of the Föhren junction of the A1, detours via the highway are not possible. These measures partly fall into the summer vacation, which will lead to extended travel times and adjustments in bus traffic. In addition, the bus lines 220 and 228 redirection must also be driven, which will also lead to an extension of the travel times by about nine minutes.
A construction site timetable is currently being created and is finalized in coordination with the VRT and the district administration. Especially during school time, important stops, including Schweich B53, Longuich Moselle Bridge, Longen place and Lörsch B53, are eliminated. In order to maintain school traffic, feeder traffic with minibuses to schools in Schweich and Mehring is set up after the summer holidays, since the normal line buses cannot use the business routes, such as Schnorpfeil-trier.de reports .
