Fridoline, the anxious ghost child: play inspires children!
On February 17, 2025, the children's theater group "Hokus Pokus Glockenbühne" gave its second performance of the piece about the anxious ghost child Fridoline. The staging of Karina Hausknecht inspired the audience in the cultural gourmet Saarburg and was already a continuation of the successful premiere performances, which took place on the first Sunday in February. A total of four performances were given, with admission to all visitors free of charge. Wochenspiegel reports that eleven children aged 7 to 12 years played the roles of witches and bats.
Theater format as a "station theater" enabled the audience to accompany Fridoline in their search for a remedy for their fear of darkness. On this trip she met a number of funny beings, including clever bats and glowing fireflies that wanted to support Fridoline.
The message of the piece
In the end, fridoline grandpa played the crucial role by giving his granddaughter the advice she needed to overcome her fears. So the performance ended with a warm community act, in which all characters haunted together on stage. The audience enjoyed the piece and then spoiled himself with waffles in Café Urban.
After the last performance, the "Hocus Pokus bellbush" will now go into a prolonged break. The rehearsals for future projects are scheduled for November, although a possible continuation of the history of Fridoline has not yet been finally defined. Additional information about the theater group is available on the homepage of the cultural foundation.
Expansion of the topic in the theater
The "Hocus Pokus bellbush" is not the only group that impresses with creativity in the theater. The German Company Family Flöz debut their production "Hocus Pocus" in Berlin in June 2023. dejavublog reports that this staging differs from the previous styles of the company, by seeing actors without masks. Production addresses the encounter and life in a first couple relationship, which is confronted with everyday challenges such as jealousy and growing up the children.
The piece includes a variety of visual and acoustic elements that support the action. The director Hajo Schüler emphasizes that the visibility of the non -masked actors opens up a new perspective and thus intensifies the experience.
In addition, the high physical expression of the actors, despite the use of masks in other productions, increases the quality of the performance. Felix Nolze was responsible for the set design, while Mascha Schubert designed the costumes.
The upcoming mask theater workshop, which is described here, shows the various aspects of mask development, which often play a major role in creative theater ideas. theater pedagogy Scholz explains that the participants have the opportunity to design their own mask and finally develop their own piece.
The frequent interaction between mask and expression in the theater creates a special connection to communication and leads to a diverse cultural dialogue on stage.
