On April 29, 2025, a dramatic police operation ended in Tawern (Rhineland-Palatinate) after shots from a residential building had been reported in the early morning. At 1:55 p.m., a special task force (SEK) stormed the apartment from which the shots were reported. The assignment took place on Saarburger Straße after the police had received a reference to the shots at around 10 a.m. A 64-year-old man was found dead in his apartment. He was the life partner of the 55-year-old woman, who was seriously injured in the shots and is currently in a hospital in which she was brought to after she had fled the building. The health of the woman is currently described as difficult, further details have not been published.
