Public coordination: Which poster will decorate the Altstadtfest 2025?
In an innovative turn, Trier Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (TTM) has put the decision about the official poster of the upcoming old town festival into the hands of the public. Today, on February 6, 2025, the vote that runs until February 17th. A total of 18 different poster designs are available, which were designed by talented artists. The central motifs of these designs are often the iconic porta nigra, which is represented as a stylized drawing, humorous comic figure or in the form of a collage. Other landmarks of the city, such as the church tower of St. Gangolf, the basilica and the main market, also find their place in the designs.
According to Alexandra Meusel and Hanna Landwehr from TTM, the competition has won popularity. Last year there have been 30 designs and the techniques ranged from oil painting to watercolor to photography and digital drawings. The winning design of the last old town festival, which comes from the 20-year-old vocational student Meike Joy Hoffmann, shows her gaze to St. Gangolf. She is invited again this year to present her creations.
conditions of participation and premiums
The design competition celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2025 and is waiting with a significant innovation: the audience decides on the draft win. In particular, new motifs are sought for the three -day festival between Porta Nigra and Viehmarkt. Various techniques are allowed, including computer drawings, watercolors, colored pencil drawings and traditional painting methods. Participation is open to students, graphics trainees as well as freelance artists and also laypersons. A submission is allowed per participant.
The winner of the competition receives prize money of 500 euros. The submissions must be sent by email to marketing@trier-info.de by January 26, 2025. All design guidelines and conditions of participation can be called up online at trier-info.de .
public vote
The online vote for the official poster of the old town festival begins on February 3 and runs until the deadline on February 17, 2025. The citizens are invited to give their vote and thus actively participate in the design of the festival. Details on the coordination can also be found on the TTM website.
At the same time, the vote on the Sparkasse Trier-Band Contest, which also calls for the public and reflects the grown interest in local events. The competition for the old town festival poster is an example of the close integration of art, culture and community in Trier and contributes to the identity and charm of the city.
