Trier in May: Experience gladiator exhibition and exciting lectures!

The University of Trier starts in May 2025 with a variety of exciting events. This includes not only the exhibition "Gladiators - Gerstenbrei and Hart's Training", which will open on May 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the university library, but also a number of lectures on important social and scientific topics.

This exhibition comes as part of an apprenticeship project under the direction of Florian Tanz M.A., which was carried out in the summer semester 2024. Students of classic and provincial Roman archeology dealt intensively with the topic and designed the exhibition itself. The event "Roman weekends in the World Heritage Trier" enabled students to experience practical experience in the Amphitheater Trier.

parallel to the exhibition, various lectures take place in the period from 07. to 28 May 2025. The lecture series entitled "Limits - border areas - border encounters" begins on May 7th with a lecture by JProF. Katharina Zahner-Knight about dialect boundaries and their influence on language acquisition. On May 14th, JProf. Diego de Brasi talk about borders in Greek literature, followed by JProf. Michael Mießner, who deals with the dynamics of the housing market and boundaries on May 21st

In addition, an interdisciplinary series of lectures entitled "Marc Aurel: Philosophy and Politics" takes place. The opening lecture by Dr. Anne Kurtze for the exhibition "Kaiser, Area and Philosopher" will be held on May 7th. Further lectures deal with the philosophy and the reception of Marc Aurels in the 19th century.

Incoming topics of global importance

A particularly important lecture will take place on May 8, 2025 at 6:15 p.m. Teng Biao about "China’s Rule by Law and Its Impact on the New Global Order". On May 12th, Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Pohl the topic "The unspeakable legend" and on May 16, Dr. Andreas Müller talk about "black holes - the darkest secret of gravity". The lecture by Prof. Dr. Sabine Klomfaß on May 19 with the topic "From struts to troublemakers".

All events are free of charge and registration is not necessary, which makes participation easier for everyone interested. The content aims to share and deepen both academic and social knowledge.
