New roof for SV Braunweiler: Thanks to volunteers and Western energy!

The clubhouse of SV Braunweiler has recently experienced a comprehensive modernization. This was urgently needed because the old roof leaked, which led to considerable water damage in the interior. In order to counteract these problems, the entire roof was dismantled and replaced by a new, modern material. The project was supported by around 20 volunteers and the specialist company Steiner from Braunweiler, who together did a significant part of the renovation work.

The financial support came from Westenergie , which provided a grant of 2,000 euros as part of the "Western energy" initiative. Project godmother Melanie Dindorf was instrumental in realizing the project. Marco Ackva, first secretary of SV Braunweiler, expressed his gratitude for the committed support of Western energy and the volunteers.

The modernization work not only included the new covering of the roof, but also the installation of a new insulation and plumbing work. In addition, the moist ceiling construction inside was renovated, freshly painted and further repairs were carried out. The steel structure of the roof has also been restored and the electrical system was renewed. The roof beams outside also received a new cladding.

The old Eternit roof was disposed of properly, which has taken an important step to maintain the security of the clubhouse. The comprehensive modernizations were mainly carried out by the volunteers on their own, which emphasizes the joint aspect of the project.

engagement in the region

The "Western energy actively on site" initiative has proven to be indispensable for numerous community projects in the Gerolstein community in recent years. Last year, material grants of 2,000 euros were provided for various projects in ten municipalities, including the renovation of the athlete home in Birresborn and the redesign of the outside area of a daycare center in Kalenborn-Scheuern. Such measures ensure that volunteering can also thrive in special challenges.

The importance of volunteering is underlined by the diverse support programs that aim at strengthening civic engagement. The German Foundation Center for Engagement and Volunteering , for example, promotes initiatives that deal with the development of further training programs and the provision of information materials for volunteers. As a result, the knowledge base of the committed is expanded and the networking between different actors is promoted.

SV Braunweiler is a good example of how important projects can be realized through community use and financial support. The modernization of the clubhouse is therefore not only a structural, but also a social improvement for the community.
