ATM in Üxheim blown up - police are looking for witnesses!

On the night of January 22, 2025, an ATM was blown up by unknown perpetrators in Üxheim, in the Vulkaneifel. The explosion occurred around 3:00 a.m. and led to high damage to property, but the exact height remains unclear. The machine concerned was free -standing, and luckily there were no injuries in this incident. The crime scene is currently being examined by the authorities, while the Daun police are looking for witnesses who may have observed something suspicious.

The explosion of the ATM is not the only incident of this kind this year. An ATM in Reisdorf on the Sauer was blown up last week. Also in early January 2025 there was a similar explosion in Schillingen in the Trier-Saarburg district, in which the machine was destroyed with an unknown explosive agent. These developments raise questions about the security of ATMs and the increase in such crimes.
