Westerwaldkreis is looking for committed learning sponsors for primary school children!
In the Westerwaldkreis, new learning sponsors are currently being sought in order to support primary school children individually and to open up new perspectives. The targeted commitment to the learning sponsors' project "No one may be lost" has been carried out in cooperation with the DRK (German Red Cross) and the district administration since 2011. As part of the initiative, children in particular should receive additional help in disadvantaged life situations in order to better master their school challenges. Even after 15 years of project time, the need for committed volunteers is unbroken in order to support the children on their educational path, reports the Westerwald Zeitung .
An important aspect of the project is that the learning sponsors do not provide formal tutoring, but rather offer time, attention and emotional support. They help the children with diverse activities, including reading, playing and homework. The current situation shows that 78 pupils currently benefit from the valuable support of the 65 active learning sponsors who work at 31 primary and special schools in the district. Since 2010, hundreds of volunteers have helped the children to find their place in school and society.
training and conditions
The new learning sponsors can look forward to two training dates, which take place on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on May 6th from 5:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the DRK Haus for Youth and Family (Hajufa) in Kaden. Interested parties do not need any special pedagogical knowledge, but should bring joy in dealing with children and spend about two hours a week for their support. The training courses are carried out by experienced DRK Hajufa specialists who will continue to offer the volunteers.
The project also is looking for new committed people who want to become part of this community. School management and class teachers decide on the allocation of the sponsors, whereby the parents of the children have to agree beforehand. The learning sponsors are closely integrated into school life, which makes it easier for them to recognize them emotionally, cognitive and social obstacles of the children.
commitment and contact
Participation in the learning sponsor project offers the unique opportunity to build long -term relationships with children and at the same time contribute to social inclusion. Interested parties can register using an online form to become part of the project.
