Emotions at Christmas time: Neunkirchens enchanting concerts!
On January 14, 2025, a remarkable musical event took place in the festival hall of the elementary school on Deerlijker Platz in Neunkirchen on the fire. The youth and traditional band Neunkirchen am Brand e.V. celebrated this year's Christmas concert, which was under the motto "Music leaves traces". This motto united the performances in an emotional framework that aimed to arouse memories of the power of music.
The concert series started on Friday evening with an inspiring young concert. The junior orchestra under the direction of Edmund Rolle delighted the audience with melodies such as "Overture to Wilhelm Tell" and "It's Raining Tacos". The concert was accompanied by the school orchestra, which presented pieces such as "Colors of Time" and "Heal the World" and "Disney's Magical Marches" under the direction of Lukas Friedrich. These first sounds created a festive anticipation for the main concerts, which took place the following Saturday and Sunday.
main concerts of the youth and traditional chapel
The main concerts were designed by great performances by the youth orchestra, which, under the direction of Nicole Steinhäuser, presented works such as "African Symphony", "Mary's Boy Child" and "From These Ashes". Another highlight was the symphonic wind orchestra, which under the direction of Edmund Rolle and Georg Maderer offered a varied program. The "Olympic Fanfare and Theme", a Christmas medley with "Merry Christmas everywhere" and film music for "How to Train Your Dragon" and an impressive medley from the musical "Elisabeth".
The audience was enthusiastic about the performance and rewarded the musicians on all three evenings with standing ovations. This encouragement showed how much the concerts touched the audience and agreed to the upcoming Christmas holidays. The concerts not only offer cultural added value, but also strengthen the sense of community within the region.
tradition and future
The youth and traditional costume chapel is known for their traditional Christmas concerts. After this year's concerts, the chapel will go to a new stage next year, as the last Christmas concert took place in the "old" elementary school gymnasium. Future concerts will then be carried out in a new, more modern location.
The next live appearances have already been set: The next Christmas concert will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 5 p.m. Works by the youth orchestra and the symphonic wind orchestra are presented here again, which will surely increase the anticipation for the upcoming holidays.
Tickets for these events are now available: the advance sales price is 13 euros (reduced 9 euros), while the box office demands 14 euros (reduced 10 euros). The youth concert on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., is also offered without entry costs, which promotes the accessibility of music for everyone
The works presented by the youth and traditional chapel often find inspiration in the traditions of brass music. This tradition is kept alive not only through the performances, but also by the selection of the pieces. This also includes works at Christmas time that are tailored to the wind orchestra and could be presented at future concerts. Works such as "Christmas Snow Songs" and "Adeste Fidelis" are particularly popular for this.
Overall, the future concert series in Neunkirchen on the fire promises to offer both older and new classics a platform to reach a broad audience. So there is hope that music continues to combine generations and ignites emotions while it survives time.
