The night parade planned for February 28, 2025 in Macherbach, a district of Eppelborn, was canceled due to security concerns. Mayor Jürgen Nürnberger announced this in a Facebook post. The night parade would have gone into the 20th round this year and would have attracted many carnival fans. But the concerns expressed led to the decision not to continue tradition in this form.

The reasons for the cancellation include, among other things, rising security requirements that cannot be implemented. Worries about drug and alcohol excesses, especially among young people, were also cited. Nuremberg said that responsibility for the event could not be taken over alone, pointing out the lack of personnel possibilities of the security forces. He also found that the required viewer restrictions are not practical, which makes it impossible to carry out the move.

Despite the cancellation of the night parade, the Macherbach Faasend tradition is not completely abandoned. A replacement event in the marquee is planned on Mardi Gras 2025. This is aimed primarily at the Ü30 feasting fans and will take place without "Bum Bum Musik", instead happy tent-feasting and singing fun are announced. The event is also intended to invite Faasendvereine and Prince couples to celebrate together.

In recent years, other carnival removals in the region have also struggled with security problems. Similar concerns have already been expressed in different cities. The German police union reported a discrepancy between a positive security situation and the subjective feeling of security of the population, reinforced by reporting on incidents in other cities. Incidents such as attacks in Solingen and Magdeburg lead to an increased safety requirement at events, which also means that the police in Eppelborn are under pressure.
