Kata marathon in Steinbach: Record attempt inspires young and old!

The Karate Association Dojo Steinbach in Ottweiler organized an impressive Kata Marathon last weekend. Under the direction of Bernd Busch, the club manager, the participants can look back on a long history of successful record attempts. In total, the association set up six world records in the Kata Marathon for 24 hours, but the last record attempt took place in 2014.

The new record attempt was organized in the gym in Steinbach and attracted young people and adults. A total of 26 athletes took part in the event, including 11 young people and 15 adults who were divided into two groups. The half marathon had to be carried out over twelve hours, with the participants held through from the start at 8 p.m. to the end at 8 a.m. the next morning. The groups alternately carried out the agreed katas and synchronous combat screams.

History of the Kata Marathon

The idea for the Kata Marathon was initiated by Bernd Busch to promote the perseverance of the athletes. The first event took place in September 2004, in which 26 athletes showed almost 6,500 single catas in 48 sequences of 30 minutes. This event continued 24 hours. Despite the impressive result, the record was not recognized in the "Book of Records of Guinness", since only sports -specific teams are allowed to participate.

A total of five other events took place in the following years. The last previous event took place from September 26th to 27th, 2014, where 13708 Katas were counted during the marathon. The implementation and documentation of the events was supported both by club members and non -members, and the mayor of Ottweiler praised the achievements of the athletes.

There are already considerations for a new edition of the Kata Marathon in a stripped-down form, possibly as a "kata night" with a subsequent breakfast, such as Shotokan-karatedojojo-steinbach.de
