After the holidays, the city administration of Neunkirchen asks the citizens to remove lametta and other jewelry from their Christmas trees. The reason for this request is that heavy metal lametta contains the compost. In order to ensure proper disposal, various collecting places were set up in the city.

The collection points are located in the entire city and include the following locations:

In addition, the voluntary delivery of lametta and similar jewelry at the city's green cutting area in the lower Bliesstrasse costs 1 euro. The green cutting station is open in January and February on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition, lead -free lametta is not sustainable, as it can consist of plastics that burden the environment. Snow sprays that are used on Christmas trees are also problematic for composting. For the future, it is advisable to use Christmas decorations from more sustainable materials such as wood, straw, fabric, wool, nuts or orange slices. Transparent Christmas balls made of glass or plastic also have a poor ecological balance, which is why careful treatment of existing Christmas balls is recommended to extend their lifespan.
