From today, May 11th, 2025, the A8 in the Neunkirchen area for drivers cannot be accessed. The full closure was put into force on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. and will continue until Monday, May 12, 2025. The measure takes place as part of a planned renovation of construction site traffic, as Autobahn GmbH explains in a message. For the detour, drivers can drive from the Neunkirchen-Oberstadt junction via L114, Zweibrücker Straße and Limbacher Straße until they reach the Neunkirchen-Kohlhof junction through Furpach. The return to the A8 is possible at the Neunkirchen-Kohlhof junction. Nevertheless, traffic disorders are not excluded during the full closure. Autobahn GmbH asks the road users to observe the broadcasting reports and plan accordingly.

The current construction project on the A8, which has been in the works for around two years, is expected to be completed by 2031. These long -term measures are necessary to modernize the infrastructure of the highway. At the same time there was another block on the A8 between Ulm-West and Mühlhausen. This was canceled on Monday morning, May 5, 2025. This blocking, which started on Thursday evening, was necessary for covering and rock security work on the Drackensteiner Hang.

The diversion via the B10 was temporarily overloaded in the days of the blocking, which led to significant traffic disruptions in particular on Friday and Saturday. Many drivers experienced kilometers of “stop-and-go traffic” and had to count on delays of up to three hours between Dornstadt and cake. However, the police were satisfied with the diversion concept, since most road users followed the signage.

For the A8, there are already further partial closures in the coming months. From 4th August (8pm) to August 7 (6 a.m.), a blocking towards Stuttgart between Hohenstadt and Mühlhausen is planned, in which a lane is closed.
