accommodation and space

The species -appropriate attitude of chickens is increasingly valued. Chickens are increasingly kept as pets, which is why their species -appropriate attitude is of great importance. A stable, weatherproof and well -ventilated accommodation is crucial to offer the animals protection against the weather and robbers. The chicken coop should be equipped with important elements such as percussion bars at a height of 50 cm, sufficient nests - ideally one nest per three to four chickens - and a safe, fenced outer outlet to create the conditions for a healthy corn. The space required for the animals is at least 0.5 square meters per chicken in the stable and at least 10 square meters in the run. When designing the run-out, variety should be guaranteed by grass, earth and sand to enable the chickens to scratch natural.

In addition, it is important to regularly check the hygiene in the stable. Daily cleaning of the water drinks and feed points are essential to prevent diseases. Regular control on parasites such as mites or lice is also included.

nutrition and health

When eating the chickens, the balanced choice of feed plays a central role. Chickens need a mixture of grains such as wheat and corn, green fodder and animal proteins to stay healthy and productive permanently. Fresh water must always be available and the feed troughs should be cleaned regularly. To support the digestion, chickens should have access to small stones or grit. The health of the animals requires regular health checks that should best be carried out every week. Signs of illnesses such as loss of appetite or weakness should be taken seriously, and the veterinarian should be taken seriously.

chickens are naturally social animals, which is why they should be kept in groups. The ideal group size is at least three to five animals. New chickens should be introduced carefully and gradually into the existing group to avoid conflicts.

The upcoming lecture offers a valuable opportunity for all chicken holders and interested people to find out more about the basic aspects of the species -appropriate chicken conservation and to better understand their meaning.
