Media case for cliché -free stories now available in Worms!
On March 5, 2025, an important project for promoting cliché -free children's literature will be presented in Worms. From this month, the media cases of the Klischen*Esc e.V. association are available in the city. The Worms Equal Opportunities Office has been involved in the integration of cliché-free stories in cooperation with the children's and youth library for several years.
This pursues a goal that reflects the variety of children's life realities in child and youth literature. The equality office has acquired two media cases entitled "Clichter -free diversity and diversity in families & lifestyles". These suitcases are available in two variants. The orange version is aimed at children aged 1 to 5, while the Greens are designed for the age group of 5 to 11 years.
content and availability of the media cases
The media cases are specially designed for specialists in daycare centers, schools, family centers, leisure facilities and day parents. Each case contains up to 30 carefully selected children's books, specialist literature, an accompanying booklet and additional materials. This extensive compilation is intended to help the educators successfully implement the content in educational institutions.
The equal opportunities representative Melanie Schiedhelm emphasizes the fundamental importance of reducing discrimination and role clichés. Mayor Adolf Kessel also supports the offer and emphasizes the relevance of tolerance, solidarity and justice. It is intended that the media cases often hike through various educational institutions and children's hands in Worms.
The suitcases can be loaned for a period of four weeks and have been available in the children's and youth library since March 1. A prerequisite for the loan is a valid reading ID for institutions.
economic aspects of the media case
The material value of a case is almost 800 euros. In addition, there are additional costs that cover the following aspects: the conception of the idea, the creation of brochures, the selection of the media and the development and expansion of the project including packaging and shipping. The bronze package is available for 950 euros, the silver package for 1,200 euros and the gold package for 1,500 euros. All prices are, plus the specified reduced sales tax rate of currently 7%.
The considerations of the association and science are also interesting to analyze cultural diversity in child and youth literature. Regardless of the material management aspect, children's and youth literature (KJL) is becoming increasingly important in literature and cultural studies through current studies. These studies show how cultural diversity is conveyed and ideologized. In the course of this, the role of translations is discussed, which can cause both cementation and compensation of cultural differences.
The media cases in Worms are not only a step towards cliché -free literature, but also a sign of the necessary examination of cultural diversity and the challenges associated with it. The project thus makes a significant contribution to the sensitization of young readers for the different realities of their fellow human beings.
