Isdera: Legendary sports car manufacturer in Saarland in bankruptcy!

The Saarland luxury car manufacturer Isdera has filed for bankruptcy. According to information published by the state portal "Insolvenbuchnungen.de", the bankruptcy request was submitted to the Saarbrücken District Court on April 11, 2025. With the opening of the provisional insolvency proceedings, lawyer Thomas Becker from Dillingen was appointed provisional insolvency administrator.

Isdera has been based in St. Ingbert, Saarland since 2024. A general ban on disposal was imposed on the company, which means that the administrative and disposal authority over the assets now lies with the insolvency administrator. So far, however, the exact reasons for bankruptcy are not known.

about Isdera

was founded in 1982 by Eberhard Schulz in Leonberg, Baden-Württemberg. Schulz, who previously worked at Porsche, built up a company that specialized in the production of small series of sports cars. The brand stands for "engineering office for styling, design and racing". Isdera is known for its handmade, exclusive models and not for mass productions.

The best -known vehicles of the brand are the Spyder 036i (1983), the Imperator 108i (1984), the commendator 112i (1993) and the motorway courier 116i ). Especially the Imperator 108i stands out because it reached speeds of up to 310 km/h. However, the past few years have been shaped by less public appearances after the company was taken over by Sinfonia Automotive AG in 2016.

The way to bankruptcy

In 2018, Isdera presented the fully electric commendatore GT on the Auto China in Beijing, which should be a sign of the company's innovative strength. But in recent years it has remained calm about the traditional car brand. The current bankruptcy is the preliminary end for one of the most exclusive car brands in Germany, which is known for its highly motorized cars in a classic car look.

The situation of Isdera reflects the challenges with which many companies are confronted in the automotive industry. The background of the bankruptcy and how things will continue for the company will be closely observed by experts and investors in the coming weeks.
