Sixth edition of the Merziger history surprises with historical treasures!
In the sixth edition of the local history magazine "Merziger History", the Association for Local History Merzig e.V. highlighted important aspects of the traffic history of the district town of Merzig. The current publication addresses two significant traffic axes: the Saar as a waterway and the railway, which gradually replaced the Saar as the main traffic axis from the middle of the 19th century. This edition not only includes classic historical articles, but also contributions to genealogy and biology.
The main article by Michael Osadczuk is dedicated to the history of the railway tunnel between Silwingen and Waldwisse. In addition, Vanessa Oehmig describes the fauna of the tunnel, especially the spotted cave spider (Nesticus Cellulanus). In his short story "Henriette", Stefan Haas presents a connection between historical facts and fiction, whereby the world of the Saarschiffer focuses on. Christof Kess complements the articles with a illustrated treatise on modern Saar expansion. The classic sections of the magazine are also an integral part of the edition.
Special features of the current issue
Special attention was paid to the 50th anniversary of the regional reform, in which the districts are also taken into account. Overall, the sixth edition includes 11 articles on 72 pages and contains a turning poster in the DIN A2 format. The price for the magazine is 9.50 euros and it is available in various sales outlets, including the bookstores Haffner-Scheid, Rede Zora, Bock & Seip as well as enjoyable tea & gourmet and shoe store.
