Donkey Day for Kids: Learning, maintaining and amazing in the Neumühle Center!

A kindergarten group from Saarbrücken has undertaken an educational trip to the Eselhof Neumühle. Kathrin Bach, the farm's operator, received the children who had traveled to Heusweiler with the Saarbahn. During the briefing, Bach explained the rules of conduct in dealing with the donkeys: friendly, quiet and slowly the children should behave. It was also pointed out that they should not pull on the ears or the tail and also do not ride on the donkeys. The children had the opportunity to brush and caress the donkeys. A special indication was that they could whisper wishes or secrets in the ear.

The group, which was shining yellow warning vests, waited with anticipation at the gate. In the morning the donkeys were gathered in warm light and dealt with eating. The children showed different reactions than they approached the animals. Karin Wunderlich, the division manager of the inclusive city day care center, watched the interactions. The excursion was the first of three days to bring the children closer to dealing with animals, since many of them have little relation to nature and do not know any free -running animals.

insights and experiences at the donkey yard

The excursions are helped by the SZ Accountance Association! Funded. The Eselhof Neumühle is a life yard on which donkeys found a new home out of poor posture. During the excursion, the children were allowed to walk the donkey, including Antonio, a 15 -year -old donkey who used to be in the circus. Despite only two leaders per animal, the children managed to establish a close connection to the animals. During a rest, they adorned the donkeys with flowers. After the walk there was a refreshment, and the children also had the opportunity to feed rabbits that also come from poor attitude.

In the inclusive city daycare center in the Mühlenviertel, a total of 75 children are looked after, 12 of whom have a special need for funding. The daycare center attaches great importance to a prejudice -free growth of the children. The excursions to the donkey courtyard are part of the “donkey's ear” project, which offers children the opportunity to experience animals up close. The donkey center Neumühle is operated by Kathrin Bach, who started with two donkeys and holds twelve donkeys today. These animals were saved for various reasons such as unsightly fates. Bach offers visitors a variety of activities that aim to convey the respectful handling of animals to the children.
