The current exhibition of the artist Cone the Weird In Saarland there is a comprehensive insight into its artistic work. The exhibition is open from April 27 to June 29, 2025 and shows works that were created between 2018 and 2025.
Cone, born from Munich and 1979, began his artistic career in 1993 with graffiti. Over the years, he developed a unique style that integrated elements from various art areas. His work combines inspiration from pop cultural mythologies, graffiti, woodcuts, renaissance painting, surrealism, pop art and Victorian advertising.
opening times and events
The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., but will be closed on May 1st and 2nd on May and on the holidays on May 29 and 19 June. A highlight of the exhibition is the T-shirt release for finissage, which will offer visitors a special memory of Cone’s creative work.
The development of cones style is reflected in his work. While early works were mostly in black and white, there are living color shades in recent works that subtly reduce the figures and motifs. This transformation is also a tribute to hip-hop sampling, which enables the use of fragmented objects and topics in new compositions.
an artist with roots in Urban Art
Cone was born in Munich in 1979 and is one of the outstanding personalities of Urban Art. He studied at the University of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken, where he also founded the "Bureau Stabil" agency. In addition, in 2012 he achieved a high level of awareness with a murals that Leonardo da Vincis transferred last sacrament to a creative variation in which Jesus and the apostles were replaced by animals, which is now considered a kind of landmark in Saarbrücken.
His artistic activity extends over numerous exhibitions in cities such as Austin, Berlin, Basel, Hamburg, Paris and many others. Cone was the curator of the Urban Art Show in Saarbrücken in 2012 and took part in the Urban Art Biennale in the Völklinger Hütte in 2015, 2019 and 2022. He also implemented projects in cooperation with students of the university, including a remarkable graffiti project in Saarlouis, which was realized in 2020/21
Cone’s creative energy and its ability to arouse emotions are characterized by his works. It places less emphasis on direct messages than much more on the creation of a poetic picture universe that has personal and autobiographical references. This is impressively underlined by earlier work in black and white and the new color palette, which represents a seamless transition to its artistic development.
To doublet the experience for visitors, public tours are planned on June 15, 2025. These tours offer the opportunity to learn more about Cone the Weird and its unique perspectives in Urban Art. Artwalk also reports about Cone and his striking works that hit the pulse of contemporary art.
