Vacation paradise Bliesgau: Discover the best leisure activities 2025!
Visitors to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau can look forward to a relaxed holiday atmosphere that offers a wide range of leisure activities. The new holiday catalog of Saarpfalz tourism presents a total of 20 different offers. In the 60-page catalog, which is provided with large-format pictures, a wide range of activities and experiences is presented. Mayor Bernd Hertzler presented the brochure with the innovative offers, which are characterized by a high level of experience.
One of the main attractions is the hiking trail "around Dalem", which extends over about 10 kilometers through the attractive nature. Hikers have the opportunity to get in touch with animals, including the Uhu Anton and various falcons. In addition, the Bliessteig as a quality long -distance hiking trail offers an adventurous route that extends over 108 kilometers from Sarreguemines to Bexbach and can be explored in nine daily stages.
Various offers in the biosphere reserve
For hiking friends, the biosphere reserve has two bookable hiking flat rates in cooperation with the Schlossberg Hotel Homburg on offer: a 4-day discovery tour and a comprehensive 7-day complete tour. In addition, the popular biosphere safaris are available in five different bus routes, with short hikes from 4 to 7 kilometers. The tips for "driving for the senses" and "Kulturland creates" inspire many people interested in nature and culture.
It is particularly noteworthy that the biosphere safaris in 2023 won the federal competition for sustainable tourism destinations. In addition to the safari tours, adventurous offers such as Survival Camps in Kirkel are also available, where participants can experience wilderness pedagogy in a two-day forest adventure. Further offers include canoeing on the blies, forest works, guided hikes and alpacat tours, which are now also accessible to visitors after moving from Helenenhof to Erzentaler Hof in Gersheim.nature conservation and sustainable development
The Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau is characterized not only by its leisure activities, but also by its rich nature. The region includes species-rich, calcareous meadows, orchards and various forest stands, including hornbeam and beech forests. The landscape shows an impressive mix of meadow landscapes in the Blies Valley, floodplain forests and other valuable biotopes. People have cultivated this room for thousands of years and left numerous traces of Roman and Celtic settlements.
The active design of the urban-rural relationship is a priority of the biosphere reserve. The aim is to promote regional products in supermarkets using sustainable product marketing. Almost 20 producers provide around 100 different products in around 60 sales outlets, which also contributes to the promotion of renewable energies. The local climate protection council unites 28 institutions to support long-term development into a zero emission region. The projects include the innovative “New Home Biosphere” program, which makes international refugees easier to integrate into the region.
With its holistic approach to education for sustainable development, the Bliesgau biosphere reserve has found both national and international recognition. The awards for Spohn’s House and the Leibniz Gymnasium underline the success of the initiatives to promote environmentally friendly education in this unique life and cultural landscape.
Information on the offers is available free of charge in brochures, which are available from Saarpfalz tourism and in the cultural and traffic offices of the municipalities. The Bliesgau biosphere reserve remains such a place that combines sustainability and adventure in an impressive way. In addition, national and international delegations are regularly attractive that are interested in the synergies between nature and environmental protection as well as sustainable development.
