Saarland in festive fever: Kirmes, brewing and flower market at the weekend!

Last weekend, April 26 and 27, 2025, various events took place in Saarland, attracts visitors from the region and beyond. A highlight was the Völklinger Osterkirmes, which has been running since April 19 and is open until April 27th. Daily from 2:00 p.m., guests were able to look forward to more than 30 rides and stands that offer attractions for all ages. The official opening took place on April 19 at 5:00 p.m., accompanied by the "Marching Band" - Fanfarencorps Völklingen 1955 e.V.

The “family day” on April 24, which was attracted with discounts and special offers, was particularly popular with families. The attractions included the 18 meter long roller coaster "Kuhnos Farm", the "Marvel Station" and a modern car scooter on Hindenburgplatz. A special candy: Every lot won at "Bavarian Glückshaferl". The fun fair stretched over Rathausplatz, Otto-Hemmer-Platz and partly also over Hindenburgplatz, while the latter temporarily led to a detour of the traffic routing.

In addition to the Völklinger Osterkirmes, other exciting events took place on the same weekend. The Karlsberg-Braunacht was celebrated in Homburg on April 26, which was opened at 4:00 p.m. on the historic market square with a barrel tapping. The event ran until 8:00 p.m. and enjoyed great popularity in the surrounding pubs.

On April 27, Neunkirchen came up with the "Day of the Dog". Dog lovers and their four -legged friends were able to enjoy the day in the city center, while the shops invited them to the open Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The street food festival in Urexweiler, which started on April 26, offered a wide selection of 15 different food trucks that offered regional delicacies. At the same time, a flower market took place in Blieskastel, which was open on April 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Regional restaurants presented their offers here and there were numerous play opportunities for children.

Other attractions of the weekend were the plant flea market in the Franco-German garden in Saarbrücken and the Bebelsheim Bärlauchfest, which took place on April 26 and 27. The German-Turkish tulip festival in the Homburg city park, which took place on April 27, also contributed to the cultural diversity of the events.
