New city district Coeur in Homburg: A future for 500 families!
On Wednesday afternoon, a significant step in the Homburg town hall was to develop a modern city district. Mayor Michael Forster and Giuseppe Ferraro, Managing Director of the Neunkircher Ferraro Group, signed an urban development fundamental agreement on the development of the former DSD site. This agreement regulates the land -use planning for the future “Coeur” city district and includes around 820 pages.
The area that has been broke since the 1990s has a total area of around 18 hectares and is revitalized in an extensive project that the Ferraro Group is planning. Up to 500 residential units, as well as commercial space, services, large -scale retail and a multifunctional meeting place are planned. The aim of this comprehensive measure is to sustainably strengthen Homburg's attractiveness as a life and business location.
sustainable urban development in focus
A central aspect of the project is sustainable urban development. The Ferraro Group only acquired the site last year and started demolition work in October 2022. By creating a new district, the living, trade, leisure and nature united, downtown Homburg is to be upgraded and a connection to the old town is to be established.
The new city district will include a total area of over 180,000 square meters. It is planned that up to 60,000 square meters for commercial space and around 27,000 square meters for living rooms are provided. With the implementation of the project, new jobs are also created, which means a positive impulse for the local economy.
renovation and planning at full speed
In the past two years, the area has been subjected to extensive contamination renovation, which was carried out in coordination with the State Office for Labor and Environmental Protection (LUA). The above -ground demolition work is to be completed this month before the renovation and disposal of the still existing contaminated sites begins, which will take about a year.
The development plan procedure is promoted in parallel to the renovation process, with an open position for the first construction phase recently decided. Interested citizens and investors have the opportunity to find out about the progress on the project website www.coeur-homburg.deThis new initiative is in the context of a global challenge, because urbanization is a megatrend that presents cities worldwide with enormous challenges. An example of this is the fact that 55 percent of the world's population already live in cities and this number will increase to over 75 percent by 2050. It is therefore of crucial importance that projects such as "Coeur" not only support local but also global urban development goals.
In view of the ongoing discussion about sustainable urban development, the “Coeur” project will also help to implement the international agendas for climate -friendly urban development at the local level. The aim is to create a socially friendly, climate -friendly and resistant urban environment that serves the needs of all residents. With the new city district, Homburg will take a significant step forward on the way to improved urban quality of life and to promote economic development. The plans that are promoted by a multi-professional architectural and engineering team within the Ferraro Group illustrate the commitment to sustainable and worth living.
In summary, it can be seen that the development of the "Coeur" quarters is not only a local project, but will also make a remarkable contribution to the contemporary urban development in an increasingly urban world. This development could serve as a model for other cities that have to master similar challenges.Details | |
