New Cispa Center: 350 million euros for research in Saarland!
The new building of the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security on the Neumann site in St. Ingbert is about to start. In December 2024, a consortial contract between the federal government and the Saarland was signed, which regulates the financing for the construction and operation of the new building. The Saarland secures up to 350 million euros from the transformation fund to create a state -of -the -art research environment.
CISPA is responsible for the planning and equipment of the new building and works closely with the Saarland and the federal government. The new building should not only combine all research areas under one roof, but also provide modern technical equipment and flexibly usable laboratory rooms. This investment aims to promote top research and to facilitate the recruitment of renowned scientists.
growth and innovation in Saarland
The CISPA plans to increase the number of employees from currently 600 to over 1,000, which is a significant step for the positioning of the Saarland as an important research and innovation location. Several high -ranking personalities have been positive about this project. Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Education and Research, described CISPA as the leading Institute for Cyber Security Research. Anke Rehlinger, Prime Minister of the Saarland, emphasized the importance of the Center for the Future of the country, while Jürgen Barke, Minister of Economics, Innovation, Digitization and Energy, praised the investment as strengthening the technological pioneering role of the Saarland
The founding director and CEO of CISPA, Prof. Dr. Dr. H.C. Michael Backes, expressed that the new building will enable a modern research and work culture that is required for successful transformation in the cyber security industry.
cyber security as a central cornerstone
In the context of this development, the event "The Mission Cybersecurity 2024" took place on July 24, 2024 in the Innovation Center at the University of the Saarland. This event was introduced to take into account the growing relevance of cyber security, especially in view of the increase in cyber attacks on companies and critical infrastructures. Cyber security is increasingly regarded as a competitive factor for the economy, which illustrates the need for robust IT systems and analysis technologies.
The Saarland has a resilient ecosystem of research institutions as well as public consulting and transfer facilities that are active in the field of cyber security. The further development of standards and solutions in this area is a common goal that can only be achieved through close cooperation between science, companies, politics and employees.
The event was organized by Futury, a platform for networking companies and startups, under whose roof more than 500 companies act, including well -known companies such as the Schwarz Group, Deutsche Bank and Nestlé.Overall, the upcoming new building of the CISPA in St. Ingbert not only marks an important step for research and innovation in Saarland, but also a forward -looking development in the field of cyber security, which is of central importance for everyone involved.
