Schmallenberg is looking for a desperate new pediatrician: Film project started!
In the city of Schmallenberg there is an acute need for a new pediatrician. After the previous pediatrician, Dietmar Seidel, retired last year, many parents face the challenge of ensuring suitable medical care for their children. In order to counter the lack of pediatricians in the region, a parents' initiative, consisting of Hannah Roßwinkel, Nicole Carpitella and Susanne Kafaoglu, has developed a creative solution. This initiative is supported by a team of experts, including cameraman Roman Schauerte, actor Robert Kuchenbuch and director Andreas Bruns. Together they work on a film campaign to draw attention to the situation and win a pediatrician for Schmallenberg.
The upcoming filming extends over eight days at different locations in Schmallenberg. The locomotives include the Gasthof Heimes, the tone studio of Tom Astor, the outdoor pool and the church in Wormbach, to name just a few. The project has set itself the goal of presenting the city and its residents in a special way and conveying the urgency of the topic. Over 60 children took part in a casting in December 2024 to participate in the film. The mood during the shooting was consistently positive, and the participants showed a lot of enthusiasm.
film campaign as a solution for the shortage of skilled workers
The film campaign, which was financed by the Merte butcher's shop, which Lions Club and other sponsors were financed, is aimed not only at children, but also on their parents and grandparents, who contribute their part to history. In view of the noticeable shortage of skilled workers at pediatricians in Germany, especially in rural regions, the project is of great importance. Many pediatric practices are overloaded and no longer accept new patients. This presents parents with considerable difficulties in finding a suitable pediatrician, especially in places such as the northern Black Forest and also in the Sauerland.
The lack of pediatricians is caused by various factors. In particular, retirement without successors and the decision of some doctors to treat only private patients tighten the situation. It also shows that over a quarter of pediatricians in Germany is 60 years or older, which increases the urgency of an search for success. Younger doctors often shy away from the entrepreneurial risk of opening their own practice. All of this means that many parents have to accept long routes in order to obtain the necessary medical care for their children, which is often perceived as unsustainable.
joint efforts for better care
The parents' initiative in Schmallenberg has obviously made a lot to draw attention to this important topic and to emphasize the need for specialized medical care for children and adolescents. Supported by cooperation partners such as the Child Protection Association, the Schmallenberg campaign community and the agency four and a half, the team is planning a premiere of the film for the end of January. With a special focus on the local charm and the challenges, the planned film will not only show the beauty of the Sauerland, but also address the urgent needs of its residents.
It remains to be hoped that the committed efforts of this initiative will help to draw attention to the problem of the Pediatrician Switzerland in Germany and that long -term solutions can be found. Sauerlandkurier Raise and win new specialists for pediatricians. Business associations and the medical profession also require increased political measures to improve medical care. Woll Magazin indicates that in the surrounding pediatric medical practices there is often an absorption stop. underlines the rescue opportunities that can arise from such initiatives. The challenges in the medical care of children are also a nationwide problem, such as zdf illustrated.
