This event once again throws a light on the traffic safety of children, a topic that is of great importance in Germany.

in 2023, according to the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV), a total of 27,235 children died in road traffic in Germany, with 44 children died. The most common groups among the victims were pedestrians and passengers in cars. Programs to improve traffic safety for children are therefore absolutely necessary.

traffic safety initiatives

The BMDV supports several initiatives to increase traffic safety. These include the “Child and Transport” program, which offers training training for parents in day care centers. There is also a new campaign that deals with traffic education for children and parents and provides ten videos on various topics such as crossing the road and traffic rules. Another important offer is the “Children in Road Traffic” program of the German Transport Wacht, which supports day care centers in traffic safety.

These initiatives are crucial to raise awareness of the dangers in road traffic and to protect children. Safe behavior in traffic, both when walking and playing, is of the greatest importance. The incident in Nauheim warns all of us to be more mindful and more responsible in road traffic.
