Seefeldt again in the race: CDU and FDP are for the district administrator!

Dietmar Seefeldt, the district administrator of the southern Wine Route, has once again announced his candidacy for the office. This was announced on January 29, 2025. The FDP district association Landau/Südliche Weinstraße has given its support for Seefeldt and has the corresponding decision of the district board, which was made in a majority decision on January 17, 2025. The FDP emphasizes that Seefeldt is an integral local politician and an experienced district administrator who is able to tackle the challenges of the region.

The FDP's board of directors emphasized the good and constructive cooperation in the district council. Together they worked on tasks in the district, which occasionally controversially, but ultimately it was useful. The voters are pointed out to pronounce their trust again.

elections and local political framework

Dietmar Seefeldt has written in writing that he is aiming for the district administrator's election. In Germany, local elections are of great importance because they include the elections of parliamentary representations in municipalities and cities, as well as the direct elections of (upper) mayors. According to the Federal Center for Political Education, voting rights and the eligible persons are clearly regulated in the Basic Law. It should be emphasized that Union citizens are also entitled to vote in a Member State of the EU.

The design of the local elections is responsible for the individual federal states, which leads to different local election laws. In most federal states, the direct elections for mayors and district councils apply, while in Baden-Württemberg and Schleswig-Holstein the district councilors are elected from the district councils.

The role of voters and the importance of choice

Voter turnout in local elections is on average lower than in the state parliament or federal elections, often due to local topics and a specific party system. Sometimes voters show a greater tendency to support smaller parties or citizens' initiatives. Seefeldt's re -election is therefore also an opportunity for the electorate to actively influence developments in the district.

Dietmar Seefeldt plays a central role in the upcoming elections with his candidacy. The support from the FDP could play a crucial role. Thus, the perceived integrity and experience of Seefeldt is put on a certain test for voters.
