Safe train stations in Central Hesse: Police increase prevention work!
The close cooperation between the Pro police Wetzlar and the Federal Police Revier Gießen was recently emphasized by visiting a delegation of the Pro police Wetzlar under the direction of Chairman Hans-Jürgen Irmer. This happened in the context of an exchange program that discusses and improves the security situation in the region. The delegation was welcomed by the first police chief commissioner Björn Schade, head of the Federal Police Inspection Kassel. The latter has around 270 employees and supervises extensive railway police tasks in northern, east and parts of Central Hesse.
The federal police, with around 55,000 employees and divided into ten federal police departments, is based in Potsdam. The Federal Police Inspection Kassel is a key authority that is responsible for monitoring around 1100 railway kilometers and 209 traffic stations. According to the last reports, there was a slight return in the Gießen area, which includes around 80 employees, even if they remain at a high level.
challenges and security strategies
Despite the positive development in the overall crimes, the increasing willingness to use violence and the falling respect for the police ensure concern. The Federal Police Inspection Kassel has therefore launched various initiatives for crime prevention, which are under the direction of police chief chief Christoph Büttner. A special focus is on the integration into local prevention councils to strengthen the feeling of security among the population.
To support these measures, security actions are carried out, including programs for pickpocketing prevention and extended video surveillance at train stations. The intensification of cooperation with the state police and security services of the railway companies is also a central element of this security strategy. Due to the increasingly frequent video technology, both security and the investigation of crimes are to be improved.
crime prevention on a wide front
The program of police crime prevention (Propk), which is also supported by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), promotes cooperation between the police authorities of the federal states and the federal government. This initiative has the goal of sustainably increasing the security of the citizens. As part of the program work, in addition to prevention, comprehensive public relations work is also carried out, which uses various media to inform the population about criminal offenses and protective measures.
The BKA and the Commission of Police Criminal Prevention (KPK) work closely together to develop concepts for clarifying crime. Among other things, special guides are published that are aimed at endangered groups such as employees in crisis regions and give recommendations to avoid risks.
The measures of the propk are continuously updated and are based on current knowledge of fighting crime. Information and resources can be accessed free of charge on several platforms and websites to achieve a wider target group.
A visit to the delegation in Gießen concluded with a tour of the train station and a tour of the service rooms. Hans-Jürgen Irmer confirmed the support of the association for the federal police in Gießen, which further underlines the commitment to security and prevention in the region.
