Radding of the Rivinius brothers at the Düren industrial concerts!

The Düren Industrial Concerts have created an impressive musical experience for visitors with their latest appearance. The brothers Gustav and Paul Rivinius performed on January 10, 2025 and delighted the audience despite adverse weather conditions. At the beginning of the concert, the organizers had given ten minutes of extra time to take the snow into account, which meant that some chairs remained empty in the concert hall.

Gustav Rivinius, who won first prize in the international Tchaikovsky competition in 1990, plays the violoncello. His brother Paul, also internationally active and founder of the "Clement Trio", accompanies him on the piano. Together they presented three works that were characterized by variations and contrasting changes of tempos, moods and timbres.

a varied repertoire

The concert evening opened with Ludwig van Beethoven's "Seven Variations" about Mozart's duet "in men who feel love". This piece impressively represented the connection between the two composers and prepared the audience for further tonal experiences.

This was followed by the "Sonata for Violoncello and Piano in D minor" by Frank Bridge, which was created between 1913 and 1918 and impresses with its reflection on the First World War. Bridge, whose work shapes the British music of the 20th century, was funded by the Royal College of Music, where important manuscripts of his compositions are archived, including its unpublished songs and chamber music.

After the break, the brothers continued the musical evening with Johannes Brahms' "Sonata No. 2 for Violoncello and Piano". The long -lasting applause of the audience showed the enthusiasm for the performance and the desire not to let the talented musicians off the stage.
