Tolerade 2025: Colorful variety and strong messages in Dresden!
on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the "Tolerade 2025" moves through the streets of Dresden. The event marks the ten-year anniversary of this important event, which was originally launched in response to the Pegida marches. The Tolerave Association, which is behind the organization, campaigned for tolerance, diversity and solidarity right from the start. Today the tolerade is a colorful demonstration in which around 40 initiatives, clubs and music groups from Dresden and Saxony are represented.
The event begins at 2 p.m. at Neustadt train station and leads over the Marienbrücke to the old town before returning to the Neustadt via the Alber Bridge. The participants can look forward to a festive backdrop with colorfully decorated trucks and electronic music. Nevertheless, there are also considerable impairments in city traffic and local public transport, which is why road users are asked to avoid extensively or plan more time. The end of the event is planned for around 9 p.m.
Inclusion in focus
An essential aspect of Tolerade 2025 is the promotion of inclusion. The event is specifically geared towards people with disabilities or impairments. An inclusion floor is set up that aims at demands, such as fair payment in workshops and lighter access to the first job market. In addition, the event calls for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities, which fixes a fundamental right to equal participation in cultural and leisure events.
The slow speed of travel during the demonstration ensures that participants can also easily participate with walking impairments or the end of the wheelchair. For comprehensive accessibility, a platform with sign language -interpreting and possibilities for using easily understandable language is also provided.
participants and topics
The motto of Tolerade 2025, "10 years of Tolerade", reflects the mission of the event to set an example against xenophobia and intolerance. For this purpose, topics such as climate protection, equality and cultural freedom are put in the foreground. The tolerade has developed into a significant voice in the Dresden upper class over the years and attracts a growing community every year.
In 2021, an estimated 10.4 million people lived in Germany with impairments, for which accessibility is often still inadequate. Experts emphasize that the design of the event environment often creates barriers that severely restrict participation. In order for the event market to be designed more inclusive, further investments are required in accessible infrastructure and awareness of the staff.
The Tolerade 2025 is therefore not only a celebration of diversity, but also as a platform for discussion about necessary social changes that enable better inclusion for all citizens.
