U14 tournament: SC Neustadt fights bravely despite defeats in Nuremberg!

The U14 team of SC Neustadt took part in the preliminary round tournament for the German Championship in Nuremberg at the weekend. Trainer Stefan Giese rates the experiences of the event as positive, despite the results that the team banished to fourth place. The Neustadter competed with a decimated team because on the first day they only scored 11 players and on the second day with 10 players. This was due to illness and family celebrations.

In the first game on Saturday, SC Neustadt met the Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 and had to accept a bitter defeat with 1:26. The game sections went 6-0, 8: 0, 6: 0 and 6: 1. Giese expressed respect for the spanders who are considered the record champions in the men's area. Nevertheless, the mood in the team remained positive, and the players found time for a handball game after dinner before they went to bed rest at 9:30 p.m.

after the games against hosts and Neukölln

On Sunday, SC Neustadt competed against the host Nuremberg and had to give up with 11:19. In the following game against SG Neukölln Berlin, the team showed a strong performance in the first section, and the intermediate stand was 6: 6. But in the course of the game the forces waned, and ultimately they lost 6:16. Gies praised the closed team performance and the fighting spirit of his players, who could not be discouraged despite the failures.

In addition to the sporting challenge, the team was supported on the pelvic edges of Daniel Kluck and Peter Kuhn. Trainer Giese, who actively played in the first SCN team from 1995 to 2004, would like to give something back to the club with his committed work and would be happy to remember the words of his former coach Peter Jacqué, who are remembered in defeats.

outlook on the intermediate round

The first preliminary round in Neustadt and Rostock ended as part of the German Youth Championships. The winning teams of the preliminary round are the SG Neukölln and the Wasserfreunde Spandau 04, while SC Neustadt ended the preliminary round with a score of 0: 4. In the decisive duel against SV Krefeld 72, Neustadt led temporarily, but had to accept a narrow 8:10 defeat.

Overall, the SG Neukölln and SV Krefeld showed 72 strong services, both with 4: 0 points, and thus qualified for the intermediate round, which takes place on October 16 and 17. The current title fights in Neustadt and Rostock use a game mode already practiced before corona pandemic.

For SC Neustadt, it is to be hoped that the experiences of the players have a positive effect at future tournaments. Rheinpfalz and Deutsche Wasserball Liga extensively report on the previous games and the upcoming challenges of the team.
