The LGO club evening: Athletes celebrate exchange and networking in Dortmund!

On April 1, 2025, the first club evening of the Dortmund's Athletics Society (LGO) took place, which was considered great success. LGO managing director Sven Kurpierz described the event as "entertaining, informative and sociable". The aim of the club evening was to bring different target groups together within the club and to create a platform for the exchange. The evening served not only the exchange of information, but also the networking between athletes, trainers, those responsible, parents and sponsors.

The club evening, which took place last Wednesday, is to become part of a regular quarterly series. Among other things, on the agenda, the club's internal news and a review of the indoor season, presented by LGO President Michael Adel. Another highlight of the evening was a lecture by two sports scientists from the partner company Praevent. This treated the influence of nutrition on the sporting performance, which apparently provided important impulses for athletes and trainers.

The exchange of information is very important to the LGO. Kurpierz expressed the hope that the response of the kick -off event would be positive even during future club evenings. These events will continue to include lectures by a club partner on competitive topics. The next appointment is already planned for June 25th, and the interest of the members is great.

A focus is on promoting movement and sports in preschool age. The offers include children's groups from the age of 2.5 and playfully start with the U6 for preparation for competition from the age of 4. These measures are supported by participating in the "Movement Education in Preschool Age" campaign of the sports youth and the State Sports Association.

The commitment of those responsible and the good frequency of the groups show how important sports funding for the LGO and the associated community is. Thus, the first club evening is not only a milestone for the exchange between the members, but also a valuable element in the continuous development strategy of the association.
