Verstappen will remain at Red Bull: Future in Stein!

Oliver Mintzlaff, Managing Director of Red Bull, commented on Max Verstappen's future plans in a current interview. The 25-year-old Dutch Formula 1 driver signed a contract by the end of 2028 and Mintzlaff is convinced that Verstappen will drive for the team by 2026. Despite a variety of speculations about Verstappen's possible plans, neither Mintzlaff nor the driver is concerned about an early termination of the contract.

Mintzlaff confirmed that Verstappen started his career at Red Bull and would also like to end there. "Max owes a lot to Red Bull and once belonged to the company's young program," continued Mintzlaff. Verstappen, who was promoted to Red Bull Racing at Toro Rosso after a 2015 season, achieved 64 Grand Prix victories and 42 pole positions in his previous career. In 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 he became world champion with Red Bull.

Current challenges

Despite the difficulties that the current car brings, Verstappen has the opportunity to take over the overall ranking at the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia. He is currently eight points behind Lando Norris, which starts in the race from tenth place. Oscar Piatri, Norris' teammate, starts from second place and has five points less than Norris. Despite these challenges, Mintzlaff remains optimistic and emphasized that the current situation does not doubt Verstappen.

A look back at Verstappen's success

A look into the past shows that Verstappen became Formula 1 world champion for the first time in 2021. The crucial moment came during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he overtaken Hamilton after an exciting race. Hamilton had dominated the race before, but an accident by Nicholas Latifi led to a dramatic restart. Verstappen benefited from fresh tires and outdated Hamilton in curve five to finally win a 2.25 second lead. The controversy after the race, in which Mercedes submitted two objections to the FIA - both of which were rejected - led to further discussions about the race management and could lead to further legal steps from Mercedes.

in the 2021 season Verstappen ended the championship with 395.5 points, while Hamilton reached 387.5 points. Mercedes won the constructor championship with 613.5 points, followed by Red Bull with 585.5 points. Results of the final race in Abu Dhabi show the impressive performance of Dusten, which ultimately made him the world champion:

Platz driver Team Zeit
1 Max Verstappen red bull racing -
2 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes-Benz AMG +2.256 seconds
3 Carlos Sainz ferrari +5.173 seconds

Overall, Verstappen's impressive career is being followed by Red Bull, and the coming seasons will show whether he can continue his successes while he is also a key player in the team.
